The Boyfriend Effect (as promised)

Oh there you are blog.  How could I have forgotten about you? Actually, no, I didn't forget.  I was just having a hard time with life and couldn't really get a handle on everything.  Everything was going by so fast that I didn't see the months without writing pass me by.  I'm sorry.  I miss you.

So last time I promised an explanation of the Boyfriend Effect.  Or is it Affect?  Anyways...  Whenever a girl gets a boyfriend, its just like when you go to college, (The freshman fifteen anyone??)  So yes I have a boyfriend we've been together six months now and are living together *crazy I know* But when you get a boyfriend all your thoughts of losing weight go out the window.  All of a sudden you're going out to restaurants, you're picking candy out for the movie he takes you to, he buys you chocolate.  This works on both ends guys so don't think you can get away without that fatty burden building in your belly.  You go to the restaurants too, you eat the candy she picks out, and you buy an extra box of chocolate for yourself so you don't eat hers on the way to her house.

So why does such a magical thing like love have to throw off your weight loss efforts?  For some people the boyfriend effect gives them 15lbs of extra meat, but for people like you and me, years of boyfriend time equals years of spare tire time.  What you kind of need is a slap in the face by that point.  But a slap gets you nowhere.  And lets be honest, no miraculous hand is going to jet down from the sky and give ya a good beating.  You need to be your own coach, your own cheerleader, and your captain all at the same time.  You need the coach in you to show you how to do it.  You need the cheerleader in you to show you that you care.  You need the starting quarter-back, the team captain, the guy playing the game - you.  Only you can do it.

I have a few other theories on the boyfriend effect.  That is, that he's the scapegoat.  He's the reason you're fat.  BULL! You know you're just using him as a way out of facing your own problems.  And if he is actually sabotaging your weight loss efforts - not the right kind of man to be with.  Choose yourself, your health and don't take no for an answer not even from yourself.  Because you can do it.  We all can.
